American Dream Realty is committed to making realtyad.org usable by everyone, including people who browse with screen readers, keyboards, magnification, or reduced motion settings. Housing is for everyone, and so is the website that helps you finance it.
What we target
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That standard is also the reference point used by the Americans with Disabilities Act in most web contexts.
What we have built in
- A skip link to jump straight to the main content, and a logical heading structure on every page.
- Full keyboard operation, with a visible gold focus ring on every interactive element.
- Text and interface colors checked to meet AA contrast, including a darker gold used specifically for text on light backgrounds.
- Labels tied to every form control and slider, with values announced as they change.
- Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images, and decorative artwork hidden from assistive technology.
- Full respect for the operating system "reduce motion" setting. Parallax, counters, tickers, and reveal animations all fall back to a simple fade or to no motion at all.
- Accordion, tab, and carousel controls that expose their state through ARIA so screen reader users know what is open or selected.
Known limitations
The interactive map on our contact section is a third party component and its keyboard behavior is limited. Every piece of information it conveys, our full office address, phone number, and a directions link, is also available as plain text and links directly beside it, so no content is exclusive to the map.
